Citizens for Sound Conservation (CSC) is a 501(c)3 non-partisan and non-profit foundation formed by community leaders representing a wide array of sectors - including manufacturers, home builders, realtors, energy providers, and maritime and port interests.

Supporters of Citizens for Sound Conservation share a common agenda of protecting the environment while growing our economy.  As demonstrated by numerous ongoing initiatives, natural resource protection and economic growth are not mutually exclusive.  They are, in fact, mutually beneficial when market forces - rather than government mandates - are given the opportunity to stimulate change and innovation.

Examples of such initiatives include:
  • Aggressive efforts by the State Ports Authority to enhance air quality via on site emission reductions;
  • Clean coal technologies that will ensure a cleaner environment as well as reliable and affordable energy for South Carolina's residents and manufacturers;
  • A renewed focus on nuclear and other renewable clean power resources to meet South Carolina's growing energy needs;
  • Incentives for more sustainable development through green building practices;
  • Support for development of a comprehensive state water plan that meets residential, recreational and commercial needs;
  • A continued commitment by manufacturers to research and development resulting in new innovations and cleaner processes;
  • Support for expansion of private incentives to protect vital historic and environmentally sensitive land;
  • Promotion of state and local land use regulations that protect property rights while enabling appropriate and predictable economic growth;
  • Support for improvements to transportation infrastructure and policies that minimize congestion and emissions.

Citizens for Sound Conservation welcomes the support of anybody genuinely willing to work for sound conservation measures that will strike a true balance between needed environmental protection measures and policies that allow for continued economic growth.
